AN UPDATE ON WELLESLEY'S FINANCIAL AID APPROACH

It is important for all of us to know that Wellesley is widely recognized as one of the top ten colleges in the country for students graduating with the least amount of debt!  The college will meet 100% of demonstrated need for all admitted students, and maintains a financial aid budget of over $65 million, dedicated exclusively to supporting students who have demonstrated those financial needs. In 2017-2018 fiscal year, 60% of students received aid.  The average financial package was more than $45,000 in financial aid, loans and work study. Wellesley continues to be commited to its promise of need-blind admission because of its belief that all students should have access to a world-class education, regardless of their financial situation.

Our Corettta Scott King Fund and Maud Hazeltine Chaplin ’56 Endowed Scholarship Fund provide significant support to the college’s endeavors.

Excerpts from thank you letter to our class from Gabriela Rodriguez:

My first semester was one of the most challenging but also one of the most rewarding time periods of my life....I have been given the opportunity....to meet intelligent and dedicated women from around the world......This semester I returned to Wellesley with even more enthusiasm as I continue to learn about various topics that interest me.....I am also continuing to tutor low income inner city kids and encourage them to pursue a college career....Thank you...for helping me achieve my dream of pursuing a college career and eventually beginning my career path.....this could not have been made possible without your generous scholarship.
